On May 16th, 2019 at midnight, DJ Khaled officially released his anticipating album ‘Father of Asahd.’ This powerful work delivered from Khaled makes history once again with the features of many talented artist. With the inspiration of his son, Asahd, Khaled uses that energy to produce “ another one”. The abundance amount of well known artist from veterans to today’s hottest artists being featured, the album has only 15 tracks – 15 neatly crafted songs.
While DJ Khaled’s last studio album, ‘Grateful,’ was also executively produced by Asahd, he uses his fatherhood love to create another body of work. The ‘Father of Asahd’ artwork features the one only Asahd with his Dad, DJ Khaled. They’re both in a matching bright peachy floral shirt with electric blue silk lining which compliments the background scenery. Asahd then gets his solo with the listing of the of song titles with a background near a fresh water river. The well photographed cover photos were taken during Khaled’s Journey to Jamaica to meet his long time friend Buju Banton.
On the album, each song featured a heavy hitter from the Hip-Hop, R&B and Dancehall/Reggae industry. ‘Father of Asahd’ starts of with a Caribbean vibe featuring Buju BantonMavadoSizzla and 070 Shake.
Khaled utilized each artist in a way to compliment each other.  “Wish Wish,” featuring Cardi B and 21 Savage gives the album an edgy feel while “Just Us,” featuring SZA , using her powerful vocals on the classic Ms Jackson beat. Check out a preview of  the video “Just Us.”
DJ Khaled had a great opportunity to have the Late Nipsey Hussle and John Legend on a tracked called, “Higher.” As we know, DJ Khaled announced that all proceeds from the song will be donated to Nipsey’s children. Vets of the Hip Hop game were also featured on the album including, Jay-Z, NasLil WanyeJeezy,Cee Lo Green and so much more.
On Instagram, DJ Khaled expressed his gratitude to all of his artists. In particular, Dancehall and Reggae Icon, Buju Banton who is featured on the intro of the album, “Holy Mountain” and the outro, “Holy Ground.” Check this video posted by DJ Khaled explaining more about his feature of with Buju Banton.
In light of the album, DJ Khaled partnered with Tidal for free ticket giveaways for the album release party in NYC on May 17th to those who are Tidal members. Supporters were given the opportunity to join DJ Khaled and friends to party the night away celebrating the album release. DJ Khaled will also be having live interview with Elliott Wilson in NYC on May 21st. Not only does this give a chance for fans to sit and listen about DJ Khaled’s work of art, but also dropping gems on his musical career.
Another gem exclusively for Tidal members only, is the Father of Asahd: The Expereince which gives an inside look into the making of the album and visuals.
