Thursday, June 14th – The House Of Vans in Greenpoint, Brooklyn has been throwing their House Party series’ for a few years in collaboration with FYF, offering great food, free shows, and an all-around amazing time; sadly, all great things must eventually come to an end though.
With this being their last year, House Of Vans kicked things off last night with headliner Action Bronson who handpicked his supporting acts, the west coasts own Blimes Brixton & Gifted Gab also known as B.A.G., and Detroit bred, LA based rapper Darnell Williams. On top of creating a personalized visual art experience with Smith Street Tattoo’s, who was there tattooing folks by appointments only.
Blimes & Gab kicked the night off., making it their second time performing in Brooklyn. The two came out rocking, not missing a step, feeding off each other’s energy and performing songs together from their respective catalogs.
Next up was director, editor, and rapper Darnell Williams bringing out the energy, bouncing across the stage with a leather harness bound across his chest. The young rapper performed singles off his upcoming Porno EP and definitely owned the crowds attention.
Finally, the man of the night, Action Bronson hit the stage at 10 p.m sharp, coming out to “Practice” off Blue Chips 2. He the performed songs from most of his catalog, announcing that the new season of ‘Fuck That’s Delicious’ starts July 10th. Oh and his saxophonist killed his solo which went on for a good 5 minutes.
While Action is known for giving out free weed at shows, this time he gave out hoodies and tossed Philly cheese-steaks into the crowd, yes you read that right, Philly Cheese-steaks.
For my first time being at House Of Vans, it was a great experience beer, tacos, free music what more could you ask for.
