Justice has not been served as the officer who shot and killed Alton Sterling will not be charged. A spokesperson for Sterling’s family, Ryan Julison, says, “We have not heard nor received an update and are unaware of any charges that may or may not be filed. We have not received word, nor has the family been given any notice of upcoming updates regarding this case.”

Last year, Sterling’s death sparked much controversy when his death was caught on camera as police shot and killed him in front of a store. The incident came just the day before Philando Castile was shot and killed in his car while trying to get his license and registration. officers Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake spotted Sterling outside of a convenience store after someone reported that a man that fit his description threatened someone with a gun. At the time Sterling was outside selling CD’s.

This is a sad case as there is now a family without their loved one and no justice served.

Rest in Peace Alton Sterling
