Ben and Jerry’s is now serving up a bold message alongside their delicious ice cream. A powerful message of freedom and equality at all costs. A very public memo to President Trump that we as a people will evolve forward, toward a nation that will not be divided by any means.

On October 30, 2018 the well known ice cream company launched their newest flavor, “Pecan Resist” A creamy chocolate based ice cream filled with white and dark fudge, pecans, walnuts, and fudge covered almonds. The ice cream flavor itself physically symbolizes a mixture of people of all races standing in solidarity.

This is what Ben and Jerry’s has to say about their brand new flavor…

“Alongside all those nutty chunks, this pint packs a powerful message under its lid: together, we can build a more just and equitable tomorrow. We can peacefully resist the Trump administration’s regressive and discriminatory policies and build a future that values inclusivity, equality, and justice for people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, refugees, and immigrants. Pecan Resist supports four organizations that are working on the front lines of the peaceful resistance, building a world that supports their values”

The four partners that have come together in an effort to create a movement of equality with the ice cream company are Color of Change, Honor the Earth, Neta, and Women’s March. All these  organizations  are creating movements towards a more progressive future. A future United as one not divided by small minute differences.

Favianna Rodriguez is the talented artist and activist behind the illustration of Pecan Resist. Rodriguez is the director of a non- profit organization called Culturestrike. Rodriguez says, “This moment is about women, about including people of color, and immigrants, and Muslims and fighting for the environment.”

Ben and Jerry’s is not new to standing up for what they believe in and allowing their products to show up and reach a diverse demographic of people. In 1989 Ben and Jerry’s came out and said a bold NO to Artificial Growth Hormone. In 1992 Ben and Jerry’s joined a campaign with the nonprofit, Children’s Defense Fund and in 2004 Ben and Jerry’s collaborated with Rock The Vote to help register over 11,000 voters.

Head to your nearest Ben and Jerry’s retailer and grab a pint of Pecan Resist.
