Students at Harvard University made a bold decision and it’s actually now coming through. The Ivy League University is having a second commencement ceremony for the black students graduating this spring. The students planned to have a separate commencement ceremony for the black students two days before the actual ceremony as they even raised $27,000 to fund the event. This is the first of it’s kind at a prestigious school such as Harvard.
We know what you’re thinking, that this might be another form of segregation but it isn’t. They have made it clear that everybody is invited to join the ceremony. This ceremony is set to highlight and celebrate how difficult it is for minorities to graduate from a school like Harvard, which has historic ties to slavery. So it’s great to see these students celebrating themselves and not excluding anybody else.
