Long Island native, Bollywood artist Raja has returned on the scene earlier this month for the debut of his single “Sangria, Sangria”.
While the track itself is a unique spin on his Indian culture, he’s still managing to tie in some Caribbean tones, taking listeners on quite the international journey.
When it comes to inspiration, Raja’s palette ranges from Jay-Z & Tupac to Drake and Kanye, displaying both an understanding of lyrical complexity as well as, both how to market fashion and fun in relation to music.
All of which are tones you can feel as you listen to the single.
To date, Raja has snagged a feature in the XXL Magazine Rookie Edition and was the headline performer at the NYC Demiurge Awards – a new recognition system for NYC creative’s doing business and giving back to NYC.
Since then Raja hasn’t missed a beat, In 2016 he went on a national tour, performing at some of New York and LA’s most exclusive venues
Followed by a feature as a model with Sony Electronics and opening for Young M.A, all of which has made his original style one that is heard across the board.
With all of that in mind, it’s safe to that his newest EP Rebirth, set to release late November, will be one to remember. Featuring a few major industry assist from heavy-hitters such Fabolous on the track entitled “Mannequin”, ( featured on HipHopDX, Billboard ), and producer Ron Brownz for the track Hangover (recently featured on a FatBoySSE Skit).
Pegging Raja as an artist to look out for this year
