This Friday, May 19th hip-hop legend David Banner will be releasing his new album ‘God Box’ which his first studio album in seven years. The project which is the follow up to 2010’s Death of a Pop Star features guest appearances from Big K.R.I.T, Black Thought, Trinidad James, Kap G and more. Before the album arrives he drops his Ceelo Green & Raheem DeVaughn assisted single “Magnolia” which is named after the state tree of Mississippi and has a deeper meaning which he explained to HotNewHipHop.

“The taller the tree, the broader the story, the shorter the tree, the more personal the perspective is. My verse is about the relationship of the magnolia tree and African’s during slavery.”

The track is not only dope but gives a history lesson and not in a preachy way either. Check it out below and pre-order the album on iTunes now.
