A few days ago legendary rapper Prodigy who is also the other half of Mobb Deep passed away suddenly. Since his tragic death friends, fans and colleagues of the rapper have been paying tribute to Queensbridge MC anyway they can.

Today DJ Premier comes through and pays homage to Prodigy by liberating the “uncut” version of Mobb Deep’s “Cop Hell.” The track was originally supposed to land on their critically acclaimed debut album Juvenile Hell but was pulled at the last minute due to the controversy surrounding Ice T’s “Cop Killer” record.

To go along with the song DJ Premier had a few things to say about the record which you can read below.

THIS SONG WAS PULLED FROM THE JUVENILE HELL LP AFTER THE WHOLE ICE-T “COP KILLER” SONG WAS SHOCKING THE WORLD; SO MOBB DEEP’s LABEL 4TH & B’WAY REMOVED IT AS WELL…
SOME COPIES LEAKED, BUT MOST DJ’s DON’T HAVE IT.
ME, PRODIGY AND HAVOC GOT PULLED OVER BY THE COPS IN 1993 AND THEY WERE ON SOME FOUL SH*T, BUT WE WERE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITHOUT THEM FINDING OUT HOW DIRTY THE CAR WAS BACK THEN…
SO WE WROTE THIS SONG ABOUT IT…
HERE IT IS UNCUT…

Rest In Peace Prodigy.
