Saturday night, Funk Flex went on the radio and kind of delivered what he promised earlier in the day, a new Fugees record. This is indeed a never-before-heard Fugees record. The record is very much a “New York” type record complete with bars over an old sample and boom bap drums. It is definitely a Fugees record complete with Wyclef, Lauryn Hill and, Pras. However, it was not technically new.

New is a relative word. To Lauryn, Wyclef and, Pras, this is old. To the fans, however, this is new. So, depending on how you look at it, Flex either deceived you or delivered on Saturday. However, it is important to draw the distinction between ‘new’ and just ‘unreleased’ because ‘new’ implies that The Fugees are back and they are not.

The Fugees haven’t been together in over a decade. New music implies that a comeback is coming. According to Lauryn and Pras, that is not in the works. Individually, they are still active in the game. Lauryn Hill has been touring in recent years, Wyclef has been working on a new album and, Pras just released a new single with Young M.A. and Rick Ross.

Hopefully, this will inspire them to comeback because this record sounds just as good as any hot song made in hip hop today. Check out the track below.
