TMZ reports, Bay Area rapper, G-Eazy, has been campaigning for the role of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s (the visionary behind The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge!) upcoming biopic about the late alleged ‘King of Rock and Roll’.

Tom Hanks has already signed on to play the part of Presley’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker, but reports say G-Eazy is not the only one going for the role. According to the Hollywood Reporter, he is among the talented likes of Harry Styles, Ansel Elgort, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Austin Butler and Miles Teller for the role of this icon.

G-Eazy has reportedly been in talks with Warner Bros. and Luhrmann himself to show just how serious he is about landing this potentially career expanding role. It should be said that he is no stranger to the acting scene. Gerald “G-Eazy” Gillum made his acting debut in the short film Tunnel Vision (2016). While he may know his way around a set and has the look, does he have the chops to pull it off? Will you watch either way?
