Kevin Benjamin, globally known as DJKB, is a New Jersey-native who fell in love with DJing at a young age. The 20-year-old producer has toured across the states, opening for major acts like Lil Keed, Young Thug, Lil Tjay, and more. For this talented individual, the sky is the limit as he continues to expand venues and open for larger artists. KB is responsible for hosting some of the hottest events in Jersey and putting out some of the bests mixes surrounding Hip-Hop.
New York City radio host Funk Master Flex serves as one of his all-time influences when it comes to DJing. The two even have similar early stories, which is quite the coincidence. At the age of 16, Funkmaster began DJing at nightclubs while KB himself began at the age of 14. This just goes to prove that Generation Z is spawning younger musical influences by the day. Check out our interview with DJKB below.
Walk me through your childhood, what were your musical influences?
Growing up I was always into music. Every time a song came on I would always be dancing to the beat of the music. As I grew older, my love for music became bigger. I grew up listening to artist like 50 Cent and Lil Wayne. However, as a DJ, I look up to Funk Master Flex. Hearing him at the clubs and on the radio, makes me want to work harder to achieve greater.
Tell me a bit more about Concert Grave.
Concert Crave is Concert Production Company. They are known for bringing out the hottest artist in the game to the east coast for a great show. They brought out artists like Lil Pump, 6ix9ine, Juice WRLD, 21 Savage, NBA YoungBoy, Lil Durk, DaBaby, and many others!
What was the experience like working with PNB Rock and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie?
Working with PNB Rock and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was a great experience. I got the opportunity to open up for both of them over eight different events.
What is the most important thing about being a DJ?
The most important thing about being a DJ is to make sure to give the audience what they want. Not only playing the right music but to be an entertainer and being the life of the party.
