This year the Grammy’s will honor Motown’s 60th anniversary with a special performance. The announcement for the talent of choice had many fans scratching their heads when the unveiled name was Jennifer Lopez? Lopez is no stranger to the Grammy’s stage, many are questioning the Grammy’s choice of talent and have expressed their confusion via social media regarding Lopez’s involvement.
Although JLo is a world star performer, she is not the first name one would associate with Motown. According to complex, “a record label that was home to legendary black acts like The Jackson 5, The Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder.”
Black Twitter not only expressed confusion, they questioned the Grammy’s inability to cast someone with more soul, funk and more representative of the culture.
