Frank Ocean ended his disappearing act this day last year when he dropped his first project since Channel Orange; Blonde.  If you remember correctly, he used a video album titled “Endless” to pretty much rollout this album.  So in a sense, we got two Frank Ocean projects in a day.  Endless also served as the last album under contract for Def Jam, so he received every penny that Blonde made and credited to his own label Boys Don’t Cry.  Ironically, that was supposed to be the title of his album.

Blonde was released on Apple Music (which is interesting because Apple is a record company now  if you haven’t noticed).  Frank Ocean had some huge features on here, including Andre 3000 and Beyoncé.  Production was no different, getting production from James Blake, Pharrell, and a few others that did an amazing job.  As you could imagine, the album was critically acclaimed amongst many music publications.

The album debuted at #1 in several different countries and sold 275,000 week one and went Gold in the UK and Denmark.

Happy 1 year Anniversary to Blonde!
