Happy Birthday to one of the greatest artists this culture has ever seen, Ms. Lauryn Hill.  She has went on to give us classic verses and one of if not the greatest R&B album of all time with “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”.

Ms. Hill was born May 26th, 1975 in South Orange, New Jersey.  In high school, she was approached by Pras Michel about joining a group with his cousin.  His cousin was Wyclef Jean and that group became better known as the Fugees.  They released two albums as a group, Blunted on Reality and The Score.  The Score being the one with the most critical acclaim, selling 6 million copies with the hit single “Killing Me Softly” where Lauryn showcased her amazing vocal ability.

She later released her only solo album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”.  This became one of the most heralded, respected, and amazing R&B projects of all time from front to back.  With the singles Doo Wop (That Thing), Ex-Factor, and Everything Is Everything, that album to this day has sold 8 million copies.  That effort earned her Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and a slew of other awards at the 41st Grammy Awards.

Happy 42nd birthday to the Queen Lauryn Hill!
