10 years is a long time and time affects all things.

Do you remember what song was at the top of Bill Board’s Hot 100 chart in November 2007? The Music Industry is always changing. As Artists aim to express themselves while also catering to their audiences, the sound and conversation of music changes.  That song, though. It was Soulja Boy. Yep. This classic “crank” track right here dropped in 2007 (though, the music video released in 2009) and held a top spot on Bill Board’s Hot 100:

When was the last time you watched a loved one “yule”? When was the last time you even heard Soulja Boy’s music? Further, though, Kanye West dominated the Bill Board Rap chart in November 2007. Yezzus’ track, “Good Life”, featuring T. Pain, sat on that number one spot all of November, and December, 2007. On top of all this, T. Pain also had another hit at the top of the Bill Board charts. Chris Brown’s “Kiss Kiss” was in the top 100 for November 2007. Point is, a lot can change.

Now, as November 2017 kicks off, Future & Young Thug hold the number one spot on the “Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums” Bill Board chart with Super Slimey. Additionally, though Soulja Boy has appeared in more recent years on Love & Hip Hop, he has not as recently released any new music. Post Malone is ranked number one with Cardi B. at number two on Bill Board’s Hot 100 for this week. Furthermore, T. Pain is on a tour and just released a track with Blac Youngsta. Though, Pain is not currently as active on Bill Board charts.

How much do you think music has changed in the last ten years?
