Arguably one of the greatest albums of this decade, Drake dropped his second LP Take Care 6 years ago.  This album is widely considered his best album and probably his second best project (behind mixtape So Far Gone).

With eight different and relatively successful singles, the album  debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, selling a big 631,000 copies in the first week.  The album is currently 4x platinum.

With production from his good friend and in house producer Noah “40” Shebib, along with boi-1da, T-Minus, and Just Blaze the album had a sound that everybody seem’s to be following today.  In a sense, this album, along with a few others, laid the blueprint for what a lot of people are doing in the industry today.  The combination of singing and rapping, slow tempo songs, introspectiveness and vulnerability made this album one of a kind at the time.

The Weeknd also had a huge part in this album being what it is.  With production and writing credits on a lot of the songs, it’s no secret he was an imperative part of the album.  Drake has since to hint at wanting to work with him again but with all the solo success that the Weeknd has, I don’t think he’s willing to go behind the scenes and give away some of his amazing music.

As Drake continues to put out projects, some well received, others not so much, we will continue to see if he pushes the needle and starts waves like he used to do.  We can all agree, that’s when he was at his best.

Happy 6th Birthday to Take Care!
