Monday, December 18th – Hot 97 ends the year off right with their last who’s next of 2017
Hot 97s Who’s Next series never fails to disappoint when it comes to bringing out star power and for the last one of the year they went all out. Seeing performances from Lil Boost , Moneybagg Yo , King Ceazar , Shy Glizzy & Corey Finesse. Phresher who recently was seen on Eminem new album revival also made a surprise appearance.
Every who’s next has been something to remember and this one was no different. Lil boost started the night off performing “Trappin” & “Enemies” and “Different” off his recent project Finally. He really brought the energy and most of the crowd seemed to be there just to see him. He dedicated a song to his mom who was in the crowd cheering him on and took time to thank everyone who was involved in making his performance happen. He is a very humble artist and even took time after the show to speak with me about his performance. “I’m really happy and just blessed to be here. This is going to be the start of something very special for me and my team.” He continues: “I have all of new content coming soon. From music to more shows, I can’t stop working.”
Moneybagg Yo also had a great night. He performed many songs from his top 5 debut Federal 3x. He did most of his hardest tracks and dedicated a few tracks to the ladies. Money Bag Yo also brought very high energy along with his impressive new Mike Myers piece & many more jewels. No word on new tracks or a project from Money Bag next year but Federal 3x is definitely doing numbers and fans are still enjoying the great music he has been dropping recently. He also took time to thank TT Torez for setting up the event and CMG for the continuous support throughout his career.
King Ceazar was definitely a stand out of the night. He started the set with so much energy and brought that all the way through to the last song. the crowd cheered on as He jumped on the speakers at the end of the set to give proper thanks to the people that gave him the chance to be on stage and sent a special shout out to his brothers that could not be there with him On stage. He performed his hit songs “Dog Food” , “I’m Sorry” and “Betriot“. His most recent track Word To featuring A Boogie is also out now. You can stream all of these songs right now on his official spotify page.
Shy Glizzy really brought out the fans. From when he walked on to when he was done he had all the cameras on him. He performed his most recent verse on the radio hit “Crew“. This fans were also very hype to hear his songs “Funeral” , “Awesome” & even brought out Dj Drewski to drop a new track featuring A Boogie and Trey Songs titled “Dope Boy Magic”. He was one of the more laid back performances of the night & the fans loved it all the way through.
Corey finesse had the New York crowd too turnt for his performance of the hit song “Shawty Got A Thang”. Due to time constraints he was only able to do a few tracks but he gave a fans a treat by embracing them in the crowd. Corey goes hard for New York and judging from the New York crowd that night they go hard for him as well.
To end the night fans were treated with a surprise performance from Phresher who made multiple headlines this year by being the only rap feature on Eminem’s new Album Revival. He performed his smash hit “Wait a Minute” and also shouted out Tt Torez And Shani Kulture for putting on the Who’s Next event and giving up and coming artists a chance. He wasn’t on the bill so the crowd was excited to see him perform.
2017 was a big year for Hot 97 and their Who’s Next event. There’s no telling what’s to come in 2018, but if it’s to be anything like this year you’ll want to be there for every show !
