As the Summer heats up, so does the music beef. The latest beef is between Iggy Azalea and recently number-one debuting new singer Halsey.
The beef stem from interview Halsey recently had with the Guardian. Between defending her recent collaboration with Migos’ Quavo, the Pop Singer justified her collaboration as being misunderstood, clarifying by insulting Iggy Azalea with the definition of how she determine who she collaborates with. Quoted saying the following statement:
“There’s a lot of people I wouldn’t put on my record. Iggy Azalea: absolutely not. She has a complete disregard for black culture. F**king moron. I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me.”
Of course, Halsey statement instantly reached Iggy Azalea and the Australian award-winning recording artist didn’t wait anytime to respond to the unexpecting quote. During her interview with Kent Small’s radio show, the ‘Smallzy’s Surgery’ show, the “Fancy” hitmaker took a more different approach to the matter. Azalea repsonse to Halsey was:
“It’s a bit weird to bring someone up in an interview that you weren’t asked about…I don’t know her, I’ve never met her or interacted with her in any capacity so I thought it was a bit of strange thing to kind of throw that out there. But she’s young and you know I hope she kind of learns maybe to be a bit less judgmental when she’s kind of in the same shoes.”
Halsey has not further respond to the follow up statement from Azalea. Halsey’ career skyrocketed from her feature on the chart-topping Chainsmokers hit single, “Closer”. Earning her a highly-anticipated sophomore album, ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom’. The same album that features the Quavo-featured track, “Lie”.
Iggy has been struggling to get back to the top of music for a couple of years now. Her long-awaited sophomore, ‘Digital Distortion’ has hit several delays and reschedules as she has dealt with several various fallouts both personally and professionally. Suppose to have been release last Friday (June 23), Iggy recently ranted on social media about her displeasure with the treatment of her upcoming album by her label Def Jam. From the sophomore album, Iggy has released three singles in “Team”, “Mo Bounce”, and the Anitta-featured, “Switch”.
In other news, Halsey is currently on tour with PartyNextDoor in-support of her new album, ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom’.
