J. Cole unveils the official music video for his first track of 2019, “MIDDLE CHILD”

After announcing the release via Twitter this past Friday, Cole has finally unleashed the highly anticipated visual for his chart-topping record,“MIDDLE CHILD”. The track alone has spent four weeks on the Hot 100 chart, while simultaneously garnering more than 44M views on YouTube for the audio-version.  It’s unclear whether or not “MIDDLE CHILD” will be treated as a single-release or if it’ll be included on a Cole full-length project.

However, there has been some speculation that maybe the record will make the cut for the Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation album, set to release around the same time as the Dreamville Festival in April.

This T-Mius co-produced track is accompanied by candid b-roll’s featuring members of the phenomenal Dreamville roster. The video is also filled with dark imagery and suggestive symbolism that further emphasizes Cole’s dissatisfaction with the current state of hip-hop. It’s evident Cole is tired of the representation, or lack thereof, that exist in modern-day mainstream music.
