It is looking like 2019 is really a hard year for the haters, specifically, the Dreamville haters! While we are anticipating the release of Revenge of the Dreamers III, (HINT HINT….Ib? Cole? ANYBODY!) Dreamville boss and front man, J. Cole is continuing his reign as current king of the rap game by securing the first multi-platinum record of 2019 with “Middle Child.”
On April 12, the Recording Industry Association of America announced via Twitter that the North Carolina rapper moved 2 million units, and is certified twice platinum. Released back in January, the T-Minus-produced beat, earned both gold and platinum certifications in the month of March and was featured in Cole’s 2019 NBA All Star halftime performance.
Aside from the rapper going platinum, Platinum, J. Cole is building his Dreamville label and brand into one that rivals the collectives of your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper. Appearing in spreads for GQ, XXL, and finishing Dreamville’s first ever Dreamville Fest, Cole has inked a deal with Puma, collaborating with his friend and fellow hitmaker Drizzy Drake (maybe you’ve heard of him?), and oh yea still going platinum with no features.
