SAVEMONEY member, Chicago artist KAMI just released his surprise EP FROM ME TO YOU.
A frequent collaborator with Chance The Rapper, Joey Purp, Knox Fortune and more, KAMI will also be joining Taylor Bennett on his North American tour starting this month.
Flexing his soulful side, KAMI heats up the winter with FROM ME TO YOU, waxing lyrically on the trials and tribulations of love, the three-track surprise release is a seductive and impassioned offering, melding R&B influenced productions with impassioned vocals and a bevy of rich instrumentations.
Stemming from Chicago’s prestigious SAVEMONEY crew – home to artists including Vic Mensa, Joey Purp and Chance The Rapper – KAMI blazes the trail for experimental and boundary-pushing hip hop, much like his team members before him.
With hip-hop and R&B roots juxtaposed against synth-driven new wave and pop laced productions, KAMI has been able to forge a sound that resonates across all genres.
Following the release of his debut mixtape Light in 2012, KAMI served as half of the duo Leather Corduroys with rapper Joey Purp but has since gone on to do his solo thing. The pair released several critically acclaimed EPs and singles, in addition to debuting their LP Season in 2015, honing his solo work all the while.
KAMI unveiled his full-length album Just Like The Movies last year, soon followed by his EP Superstar, which featured his hit single “Payload.” With performances alongside Kweku Collins, Valee, and Hannibal Buress under his belt, this month sees KAMI embarking across North America alongside fellow Chicagoan Taylor Bennett, as part of Bennett’s Restoration of an American Idol Tour.
