Kanye West opened up in a recent periscope video about various topics including mind control via social media, self worth, and his fight over publishing with Sony.

“When people try to influence you through social media and try to tell you what to do or you post something that’s like positive on instagram and it gets taken down because its not apart of a bigger agenda, you know that’s like mind control.” Kanye West

Kanye West has recently been highly criticized in mainstream media as well as social media, for his October 11, 2018 visit to the White House for a lunch meeting with President Trump. It is no mystery that Kanye West has been very outspoken throughout the years and holds a different and at times opposing point of view than many of his critics and peers alike. In this nine minute video, what countless are calling a “bizarre rant” seems to me, a very open and intimate moment inside the thoughts of Kanye West.

He says, “When someone tries to tell me what to do, tries to tell me what I can wear and not wear, I feel like they’re touching my brain.”

He goes on to talk about the hurt he feels when he is criticized for simply following his heart. He compares society attempting to control his thoughts with how a woman is suppose to have complete control over her body and do with it as she pleases. He inadvertently poses the question, should I not have just as much control over the way in which I express my thoughts as a woman has over her body?

He speaks in detail on his thoughts in reference to the cyber bullying that takes place via social media when you have a difference of opinion than the majority. He also spoke about a recent conversation he had with Jack Dorsey, founder and CEO of Twitter and Square about their plan to reprogram twitter over the next four months to allow users the option to edit their profile, in a way that would hide the amount of likes and followers a user receives.

“That works against your self worth. The beauty you have is inside you. It’s not based on how many records you sell. It’s not based on how nice your car is.” West states, in reference to how he feels about the move to reprogram twitter.

Kanye West expresses,“Social media is a lie.”

He says, “Unprogram your minds, open up you heart, let your spirit guide you, let your conscious be free.”

He then switches lanes and exposes Sony ATV and his fight with the company for his publishing. He sends a direct message and says, “So Big Jon, Marty, whoever is involved…I need my publishing. I got the money. I’m not going to say the “S” word. I’m not Prince, I don’t need to write it on my face.”

Kanye tells his viewers, “We are here to do God’s work. We’re merely a vessel… If I let human beings and people, humans rather and people, tell me what to do, tell me what I can’t do. I can’t be a vessel to you. The reason Pac did what he did is because he was a vessel.”

Kanye closes the video as he urges people, “ This is the transition, we free, our minds are free, clear your mind.”
