We can all assume that a great majority of the music industry is not at all feeling President Trump. Multiple rappers have come out to state their opinion on him and now, legendary MC Nas has openly threw some jabs at Trump about being a racist.
In an open letter published yesterday (May 30) by Mass Appeal titled Actions Speak Louder Than Words No time for lippin’ in the so-called “Trump Era”, Nas discusses his issues with Trump and refers to him as a racist due to the way Trump carries himself and bases it off of the amount of power he currently holds as president.
“We all know a racist is in office,” Nas says. “People can talk their shit. Comedians can sound racist. People can go through their moments of that shit, but when you have the responsibility of being President and you carry on like that, you send a strong message to people outside of your group that they ain’t worth shit.”
Nas also gave a few details about his music and states his tunes from early on until now is his method of helping cure and change the world.
“My way of addressing these issues is through my work,” Nas states. “Whatever president may be in office doesn’t affect my work directly. The way he affects people is what affects me. I observe what’s going on and that goes into my creative process.”
Although we have no idea of what is going to into Nas’ new album, we can assure that he is definitely going to touch on this topic in a few songs.
