Is Pac Really Still Alive Or Is It Wishful Thinking?
Anytime a celebrity dies at their peak fans are in disbelief, Tupac was no exception to this rule. Since his death on September 13, 1996, Tupac has been the subject of many conspiracy theories believing that the rapper is not dead. Some of the theories believe that he’s in Cuba with Assata Shakur, while others believe he’s hiding to avoid gang beef. Here are four of the most interesting ones below.
1. Tupac is in witness protection – Many believe that Pac is under witness protection from the FBI. The theory goes that in 1996 Pac helped the FBI in their investigation surrounding Suge Knight. While Pac and Knight had their ups and downs throughout their business relationship, unless Pac is a witness in Knight’s current murder trial, this is unlikely.
2. Tupac is alive in New Zealand – In 2011 the hacking group LulzSec broke into the PBS’ website and published a story about Tupac being alive in New Zealand, living on a “small resort.” The hacking group reportedly published the false story because they were unhappy with the show Frontline that airs on PBS. The show did a special called WikiSecrets which showed WikiLeaks in a negative light. By the time the story was proven to be false it spread across the ‘net like wildfire.
3. Tupac Fled to Cuba – Many believe that Pac followed in the footsteps of his step-aunt, Assata Shakur and flew to Cuba to live a quiet life. People believe that since his mother Assata was the last person to see him alive besides the doctors, she helped him flee to start a new life outside of the limelight. Assata has stated many times that the rumor isn’t true, however, that hasn’t stopped conspiracy theorist from believing it to be true.
4. The Machiavelli Theory – The 16th century Italian Philosopher was the inspiration behind. Tupac’s The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. On the dark album, Pac was no longer going by Tupac or 2Pac, but by Makaveli. While Pac was in jail, he read a book by Machiavelli and began to admire the philosopher. Many believed his writings encouraged people to fake their own death and reappear in 18 years in order to defeat their enemies. 20 years later, outside of the hologram at Coachella, Tupac has not been seen.
20 years later all of these theories have been proven wrong. The importance of Tupac’s legacy is shown in the conspiracy theories created to keep him alive. As his music and words are passed on from generation to generation, his legacy lives on beyond his short 25 years here on earth.
