A quiet storm is one you may not hear rumbling in the background.  It creeps up on you in the night, waking you out of your slumber, drawing you to the window, and amazes you with it’s wonder.

Top 5 ranking New Jersey rapper, Cinematic Music Group’s Cruch Calhoun, born Jerea Tyri Prather is that storm that’s been brewing in the distance.  Racking up mixtape releases  like FREE SPEECH, 25Days, and Cincerely, Cruch to performing in over 30 shows in 2016 alone; Calhoun, who acquaints himself with the likes of rappers Ransom and Kushed God Smoke DZA, is one of the undisputed, unsigned hypes of the culture as it stands.

A lover of basketball, the onset of his interests in music came early as he wrote his first rap at the age of 12, and with that, it wasn’t long after that the interest would grow into his greatest passion & pursuit today.  Dropping music like it ain’t nothin’.

To become like the greats, you have to follow them.  With favorite rappers like a Jay Z, Biggie and Tupac, the challenge to be like them wasn’t one he would shy from.  The Bully Gang affiliate which comprised of Calhoun, and friends Acid and Tecc 9 would later breed life into Calhoun’s own label “F.O.R.T. BULLY Ent”, further cultivating his artistry and business mind similar to the journey of his beloved’s.

Rapfest correspondent Jocelyn Rivera sat down with Calhoun at the Cinematic Music Group offices the other day to chop it up, check out the interview here.

Making his debut at the 2018 “Smokers Club” Festival in Long Beach, California just recently, Calhoun is also planning a late summer tour.  And this month alone, Calhoun will be featured on two shows: the One Revolution show in Newark, NJ on May 18th, of which the artist is voted on by the fans of New Jersey; and he will be opening up for 21 Savage alongside DJ Tea on May 21st.

Stay connected and up to speed with Cruch Calhoun’s comings & goings.
