Nike’s introduced two brand new sneaker technological advances, in the Vapormax sole unit and Nike React cushioning system, that will keep them in the forefront of the sneaker realm for the time being. The OG Nike Air Vapormax that was introduced prior to the 3rd annual Nike Air Max Day in 2016 and instantly became a must-cop silhouette amongst the sneaker community. Nike introduced their Nike React Foam cushioning technology last year and instantaneously applied the new tech to their newest Nike Hyperdunk sneaker. Now, it looks like the Swoosh has a brand new silhouette that is set to become another treasured Nike sneaker in time in this Nike React Element 87.
The Nike React Element 87 takes on some of the traditional components of a lot of their running sneakers but the sneaker’s translucent mesh upper is an unusual approach that we haven’t seen since the days of the synthetic, clear Nike Air Force I that dropped during the 2000s.
The sneaker is stabilized by a synthetic perforated heel panel which is decorated with connective tape and embroidery while the lacing eyelets are constructed of soft suede, textile canvas lacing eyelets, and 3M reflective shoelaces while an angled tongue provides a flashy aesthetic to the sneaker. The Nike React Element 87 is then closed out with a Nike React Foam infused sole unit complete with translucent detailing found throughout the outsole of the kicks.
The senior designer of Nike’s latest masterpiece, Nate Jobe, had this to say about the silhouette, “The Nike Element React 87 was realized by drilling foam and applying a computational design filter. The results presented a new articulation of Nike’s React technology while an out-the-box interpretation of a friendly runner from the past yielded an avant-garde new upper.”
The Nike Element React 87 originally dropped in the States on June 13th but will be dropping globally June 26th for a retail price tag of $160. You might not be able to find these for retail price but, you might be able to find a pair on the resell market today.
