Embarking on our third month with the #OnTheLookOut series, TheRapFest is finding more talented artists on the rise to introduce to TheRapFest fans. In route of achieving stardom, each artist walks a different path towards the limelight, but what remains constant throughout the journey is the hard work and dedication put into their crafts.

Imani Scott


Emerging from the south lands of Houston, Texas, Imani Scott, singer and songwriter, has set out with a mission to put happiness back in music. The recent college graduate started working behind the scenes in the music industry, learning the ropes and strengthening her work ethic.Imani’s growth is evident in the position she’s in now; from recording songs in a tiny closet to laying down tracks in a multi-million dollar recording studio with industry professionals,  she is authentically walking in her artistry.

The Houston-bred’s eclectic vocals and unmatched style stems from the likes of Etta James, Tamar Braxton, Tina Turner, Lauryn Hill, and Anita Baker just to name a few. Imani’s artistry has a purpose in this industry; “I’m determined to bring live instrumentation back to the music, to fulfill what we once had and get away from the artificial sound…” Climbing the ladder of success, Imani’s is destined to make it.

Earlier this month, the rising star released her highly anticipated album, The Introduction. The heavy hitter producer, Isaac “Chill” Yowman helped ignite the albums Funkadelic, Pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop vibes. With Get Litty and All Over Again blessing the ears of many, Imani has taken the industry by storm.
