The 60th annual Grammy awards event took place on Sunday night [01/28] in New York City for the first time in 15 years, held at Madison Square Garden. As the biggest night for music, the ceremony celebrated some of the most chart-topping and fashionable artists in the industry.
With Bruno Mars taking home all 6 Grammy’s of which he was nominated for, and at the dismay of many; DAMN‘s Kendrick Lamar winning 5 for the Hip Hop audience, the expectations of newcomer Cardi B to take home a win were highly anticipated; sadly the nominations and her performance for hit song “Finesse” alongside Bruno, alone would have to do this time in measuring her Grammy feats. Some of the much talked about performances by DJ Khaled, Rihanna & Bryson Tiller; SZA; Pink, Kendrick, Childish Gambino, and more; it will be a night to remember for some more than others.
The signature red carpet kicked off the show with celebrities and public figures who all showed off their acclaimed looks for the paparazzis. For the most part, there were not many extreme looks as far as something we have never seen before; but a lot of responses were directed towards stars like Lil Uzi and Tyler the Creator.
Uzi took it left, sporting heavy metal pants – something we’ve seen in many rock bands; while Tyler appeared to be very swaggy until he took his hat off – revealing his cheetah print hair – this is too, something we’ve seen with Dennis Rodman.
Even though, fans can all agree that SZA and Cardi B looked absolutely stunning, and of course Beyonce and Jay-Zgave us what is considered: “#relationshipgoals” during the show; although eventful and filled with music royalty with acts and notables such of Jennifer Lopez, Ashanti, Eve, Childish Gambino, Rick Ross, the night’s fashion was still not as impressive as expected for this award season. Perhaps, all were too focused on who would take home those Grammy’s; I know some stylists who surely deserve a go at it for next year.
