John Legend, though an R&B phenom, is no secret in Hip Hop. Now, Legend is using his expertise in collaboration with Netflix to deliver Rhythm & Flow.
Rhythm & Flow is set to be Netflix’s first ever talent competition show. The series is a collaboration between Netflix, Legend’s Get Lifted Film Co., and Jeff Gaspin. Gaspin is a NBC executive. Furthermore, Legend is working as an Executive Producer on the project. Also, according to Essence, the reality competition is focused on giving “aspiring rappers the break needed to achieve their dreams”. Though, according to Boom Box, the show will also be a chance for R&B, and Soul, Artists to shine.
On top of all this, though, John Legend is also said to be working on other productions. For one, Black Wall Street is said to be in development. The series could premiere in 2018 on WGN America. Additionally, Tika Sumpter (Southside With You, Ride Along, A Madea Christmas) is said to be apart of the cast.
“We’re so excited to continue to grow our relationship with WGN America… Our experience working with them on Underground; has been fantastic. Additionally, we’re looking forward to working with our friend Tika Sumpter to help tell this incredible story that many people know nothing about.”

No word yet on how musicians can go about applying to perform on Rhythm & Flow, but those details should certainly be available in due time.
