Rico has had a pretty great 2017.
Her breakout hits “ICarly” and “Hey Arnold” have both gone viral. “Hey Arnold” got the remix treatment from Lil Yachty; another track with Yachty was featured on the new Fast &Furious movie and she has also dropped 2 full length studio recorded projects almost simultaneously Tales Of Taco Bella and Sugar Trap 2. Rico Nasty has also been recognized this year by a multitude of prominent music blogs and information sites like No Jumper , Complex , XXL Mag and has also been featured right here, on The Rapfest.
Most known for her unique style which she has coined as Sugar Trap, Rico explains it is a combination of sweet and savage. In November, Rico announced she would be bringing Sugar Trap on tour and on December 4th, she tore down the Mercury Lounge stage in NYC, performing multiple hits from her latest project Sugar Trap 2.
Rico brought out a very diverse crowd who knew every word from start to finish. She started the show with a high energy performance of her viral remix to “The Race”, and also performed “Rojo” , “White” which features Famous Dex , “Blue” , “Spaceships”, “Ar-15” , “Back Up” and many more. The performance also featured a segment where Rico danced on stage to a mix of her album and also rapped a passionate verse, acapella style. Then, she jumped into the crowd, performing some of her older songs for her day one fans.
Some of the most memorable moments where her performances of “The Race”, “Back Up” and when she embraced and surprised her Mercury Lounge audience with a new unreleased track.
Rico Nasty is gradually becoming one of the best new artists out right now and is an even better performer. To witness her unique style and one of a kind personality up close was exhilarating and one to remember; can’t wait for the next one.
