This week, 20-year-old Boston native and currently L.A.-based artist Caye returned with a breezy new single “With U”.
The song, produced by Peter Pablo who previously went by “Dawgus”, perfectly encompasses Caye’s signature feel-good blend of jazz and alternative hip-hop; and will presumably appear on Caye’s debut album, Pink Tree Paradise, which he’s been promoting since at least August, and will arrive at some point within the next few months.
Pink Tree Paradise will be Caye’s third project overall, following his Day Trips EP from 2015 and his Shades (Pt. 1) project from 2016; the latter of which featured his breakout record “Coma“, which currently has over 2 million streams on Soundcloud.
“I’ve always found it interesting how people can be so hesitant to be their true selves in front of strangers. In this song, I ask if we can break down those walls and be ourselves. Maybe even consider what it’s like to live in one another’s shoes.”
While he is still technically a sophomore at USC’s Thornton School of Music and a member of its Pop Music Program, it’ll be interesting to see how long he’ll remain there, as his potential looks to be through the roof.
Caye will be going on a 12-city North American tour beginning on the 22nd at the Lost Lake Festival in Phoenix, AZ alongside Chance The Rapper, Major Lazer and other names; and ending on December 8th with a show at the Paradise Rock Club in his hometown of Boston.
