The hip-hop community has completely dominated this years Emmy Awards which is slated to air September 17 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. With so much impact in our generation and towards the new age of pop culture, hip-hop related figures swept several categories in the 69th award ceremony.

Chance The Rapper, who recently won the Humanitarian Award at the 2017 BET Awards, is nominated for the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics award for his “Last Christmas” skit on Saturday Night Live. Common is also nominated in the same category for his record “Letter to the Free” featuring Bilal. Snoop Dogg is nominated for the Oustanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program alongside his partner in crime Martha Stewart for their VH1 show Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party while LL Cool J is nominated for Outstanding Structured Reality Program for his Spike TV produced show Lip Sync Battle. Last but not least, Donald Glover a.k.a Childish Gambino is nominated for multiple awards such as Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for his FX show Atlanta.
