Condolences are in order for rapper Tee Grizzley and his family. Tuesday night, on Detroit’s east side, a gunman opened fire on his vehicle. He was exiting the front passenger seat when the gunman approached on foot and pulled the trigger. His aunt and manager, Jobina Brown, was sitting in the backseat, and she was hit on her left side. It was reported that she screamed before the 3-4 shots were let off. At this time, it is unclear if Tee Grizzley was the target; however, neither him nor the driver were injured during the shooting.

Jobina was rushed to the hospital where she later passed from her wounds; she was 41.  Since Jobina was hired to manage Tee Grizzley two years ago, his career has taken off dramatically; she was known to be efficient and hard-working. For those who are fans, and have been following Tee Grizzley’s career, they know that he was very family oriented. As a thank you for his success, he had sent his aunt, Jobina Brown, to Bora Bora.

Tee Grizzley is best known for his singles “First Day Out”, “No Effort”, “Colors” and “From the D to the A”. After his release from prison in 2016 he released “First Day Out” on YouTube and it gained over two million views in less than three weeks. He later signed a record deal with 300 Entertainment and Atlantic Records. He went on to release his debut album Activated, which hit its peak at number 10 on the Billboard 200

Celebrities, such as Lil Yachty, and fans took to social media to send their condolences and prayers to Tee Grizzley during this tragic moment in his life. At this time, the shooter has not been identified, but the Detroit police is actively in search; this tragedy is possibly linked to a secondary scene that was three minutes away from where his aunt was killed.

We are all keeping him uplifted, and hope that he and his family will heal over time.
