Last night (February 13th), Astroworld rapper, Travis Scott took over the city of Houston by riding roller coasters, conducting controlled mosh pits and turning up in front of inflatable giant astronauts but nothing top the moment that follows before the last song of the night. Travis’ show in Houston at the Toyota Center featured special guest, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. Right before the show came to an end, Mayor Turner came on stage to share a heartfelt moment with Travis right before his final song “Sicko Mode.”

Accompanied by his daughter, Ashley Turner, the Mayor of Houston goes on to say, “We owe so much to this guy for keeping Houston on the map.” Turner proceeds to give Travis Scott the key to the city. Turner continues:

“With ‘Astroworld,’ man, and those of us that remember Astroworld, and because of him, we’re gonna bring another amusement theme park back to the city. This city loves you.”

Before kicking off the last banger of the night, “Sicko Mode,” Travis smiles from ear to ear and launches into the hypest version fans may have ever seen from the Houston rhymer to close out the sold out show. The energy was so live you could feel it! Every person in the building was on their feet, jumping up and down rapping every word. “Astroworld,” as a project and a concept, has been a labor of love for the H-town native. The album dropped back in August and has since sold over 2 million copies and earn three Grammy nominations. Back in November, Mayor Turner proclaimed November 18th, “Astroworld Day” after 40,000 fans came out for the rapper and Houston native Travis Scott’s debut of the Astroworld Festival. We are so happy for the great year Travis is already having in 2019 and can’t wait to see what else he has in store.
