If you’ve listened to J. Cole’s recently released album, 4 Your Eyez Only, then you’ve definitely heard the song “Neighbors.” That record happens to be one of the most noted songs on the entire album and for good reason. That particular track was inspired by real life events and what happened during this entire process was disturbing but Cole flipped it and turned it into a hilarious story.

Last night during his show at the Barclays in Brooklyn, the Fayetteville rapper took 10 minutes out of his time to fully explain the story and how it became the foundation of the record. He stated that the house was very regular and he purchased it in the suburbs because he always wanted an in-home studio. Things went left when one of his “racist” neighbors began to suspect something. He even showed the clip of the police breaking into his home, a video that hit the web a little while ago. In a joking manner, Cole broke down every aspect of the situation and even took the blame for it happening.
